The research shows that adding a small amount of organic polymer, such as polyacrylamide, into cement concrete has become a new trend to improve the performance of cement concrete. Because of the long molecular chain structure of organic polymer and the spin rotation of bond or chain segments in macromolecules, it has different properties, elasticity and plasticity, which is different from inorganic nonmetal materials. Therefore, adding polyacrylamide in concrete can improve the density of concrete. Polyacrylamide is a water-soluble polymer, which has good flocculation property and can reduce friction resistance between liquids. According to the ion characteristics, polyacrylamide can be divided into four types: non-ionic, anion, cation and amphoteric.
Some people will use anions as glue, usually using 16-18 million molecular weight anionic polyacrylamide. It is proved that polyacrylamide can improve the flexural strength, bond strength, bending toughness and abrasion resistance of cement concrete deck pavement, and reduce permeability and shrinkage.
