White sugar is made from molasses extracted from sugarcane and beet, while brown sugar is made from sugarcane syrup, containing granulated sugar and molasses. The flocculation mechanism of polyacrylamide can be divided into two types: one is polymer adsorption bridging, the other is electric neutralization. Polyacrylamide (PAM), a synthetic organic polymer flocculant for sugar, has become a widely used flocculant in sugar factories at home and abroad because of its excellent flocculation effect, and is widely used in various processes of sugar industry. Because of the change of sugarcane processing conditions, such as sub frost treatment and so on, the sugarcane juice is not easy to reach the expected effect The suitable flocculant and its application conditions have been studied.

 

With the rapid development of synthetic organic polymer flocculants, many new technologies and different treatment equipments have been developed for sugar production. In China, the flocculent carbonic acid method, up float method, phosphorus float method and all kinds of improved equipment or New Coagulant have been fully applied in sulphurous acid method and equipment. The modified flocculant has also been applied in the process of sugar production and achieved good flocculation effect.

 

The natural organic polymer flocculant for sugar has the characteristics of low price, wide source of raw materials, easy biodegradation, no secondary pollution and wide molecular weight distribution. Natural organic polymer flocculants include starch, cellulose, gum containing plants, polysaccharides and protein derivatives. Their research and development has opened up a new way for the utilization of natural resources or the production of flocculants. Flocculant for sugar is an economical and simple method to improve the efficiency of sugar juice treatment in sugar industry at home and abroad. In the late 1960s, the sugar industry in China began to use high molecular polymer as flocculant in clarifying cane juice. The production application shows that the flocculant has the advantages of less dosage, good flocculation effect, faster particle settling speed, increased filtration speed, improved settler capacity, and significantly reduced juice turbidity.
